Play Legion is a written index of hotels. It covers four categories — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — and describes each property in prose, in the same voice, at roughly the same length.

How entries are written

Each entry starts with the building. What was it before, if anything; how it sits in its city or its landscape; what a guest would actually encounter. Facts are kept general and durable: a location, a construction period, a format, a season. Anything that changes monthly — rates, availability, opening hours — is left out on purpose, because a static page will get it wrong.

We do not publish star ratings, guest scores or reviews. No entry is sponsored, and no property paid to appear or to be described a particular way.

Why these four categories

They describe different propositions rather than different price bands. A capsule hotel solves a problem an art hotel does not attempt; an ice hotel exists for three months a year. Grouping them this way makes the comparisons inside each category meaningful and the comparisons across them unnecessary.

Category sizes are uneven by design. Ice hotels are genuinely rare, so that section holds a single entry rather than a padded list.

What this site is not

It is not a booking agent, a travel agency or an affiliate of any hotel or group. There is nothing to reserve here, and no gambling of any kind takes place on this site. Properties in the casino category are described as hotels, with the gaming floor treated as one facility among many.
